Last English Classes!

Today was the last day of English classes for this school year. The sixth graders will graduate next week, and then it will be spring break. We'll start classes again in April, when the students have moved up to a new grade!

Many people have asked me what graduation is like in the United States. The truth is, every school district is different in the United States and many other countries. In my school district, we did not have a big ceremony for graduating elementary school.

We did have a large ceremony for graduating junior high school. It was at night. The school band played. In our school, we did not sing - so the students did not sing like they do here. We also did not have a school song. After the ceremony, we had a school dance to celebrate.

However, many schools do not have a big event for junior high school graduation. I have heard from friends that went to school in the city that they did not have a ceremony.

In high school, I think every school has a large ceremony. The school band usually playes Pomp & Circumstance and there are a few speakers. College graduation is similar, however not every student chooses to attend graduation.

Okay, I have to go now, but I'll be back in April! Take care and see you then!
