Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Many countries celebrate Halloween. This holiday is on October 31st. Parents take their children trick-or-treating on the night of Halloween. Children go to the doors of nearby houses, and their neighbors give them candy and other treats. Jack-o-lanterns, scary decorations, wearing costumes, and haunted houses are also common Halloween traditions.

Halloween has a very long history. No one is sure when and how it began. Halloween has changed over time and different countries have helped create different traditions. For example, in the United Kingdom turnip jack-o-lanterns are common. When the holiday spread to America people began to make pumpkin jack-o-lanterns!

Most people have to go to school or work on Halloween if it's during the week. So many people celebrate with trick-or-treating and Halloween parties during the weekend. Halloween is on an important day in Chirstianity called All Hallow's Eve. The word Halloween is an abbreviation of this. Some people celebrate it as a religious holiday, but these days most people don't. Most people just think of Halloween as a time to dress up, have fun, and tell scary stories!

I hope that your weekend isn't too scary. Be sure to save me some trick-or-treat candy for next week! Bye!
