Typhoons, Hurricanes, and Cyclones

It's typhoon season in Japan. Another one is coming to Yamanashi this weekend. Typhoons are very big storms. Did you know that other countries have similar storms?

In the Caribbean area, which includes the southeast part of the United States, there are storms called hurricanes. Maybe you have heard of Hurricane Katrina? It was a very powerful and dangerous hurricane in 2005. I have many friends that were affected by Hurricane Katrina.

In other parts of the world, there are cyclones. Are hurricanes and cyclones like typhoons? Actually, all three storms are basically the same! They have different names only because they occur in different parts of the world.

I hope that you prepared for typhoon season, and please stay safe this weekend. See you later!
